Classical singers do blogging! [edit1]

Yes, it is true.

The modern classical singers do blogging! Some of them have their own blogs and write frequently, they share their thoughts, fears, happy and unhappy moments for their musical life and not only.

The 'diva' era in opera has passed many years now and the professional singers seem more human, down the earth and relaxed with their public image.

They use and exploit technology and of course, as their generation, they communicate via internet. They do surf and upload their music videos in youtube.

Here is some blogs of them:

It is mezzo soprano's JOYCE DI DONATO personal blog. She created it on April 26, 2005 writing:
"My intention is that it will be a real glimpse into my work, showing all the different aspects of a life that is very unconventional, always demanding, and often incredibly rewarding." Till now (2009) it is a pretty refreshed blog. And Di Donato never forgets to describe her scenic experiences from her performances.

The known soprano Aprile Millo has sung over 160 performances of 15 different roles at the Metropolitan Opera. She keeps her personal blog, she introduces her favorite singers, she uploads rare photos and she shares her on-stage memories.

The personal blog of the arising American tenor Andrew Richards. He is married since 1989 and has three children. He made his debut at the Arena di Verona ( summer 2006) singing Turiddu (“Cavalleria Rusticana”), Don José (“Carmen”) and Cavaradossi (“Tosca”). He was the first American tenor there in 20 years to be demanded an encore, for his singing “E lucevan le stelle.” He never neglects to share his thoughts on his blog and he uploads his personal on stage photographes. He is witty and well down to earth.

Nicholas Phan is a greek-chinese young 'tenore di grazia'. He lives and sings mostly in USA. On August 21, 2009 he will sing the role of Malcolm (Macbeth) in the Ediburgh International Festival. Nick is outdoorsy, he writes many articles about nature and of cource he never forgets to share his on-stage thoughts and expreriences.

Campbell Vertesi who hails from Vancouver (Canada) is presently studying in the Masters program at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, Ohio. He has performed lead roles in several professional and semi-professional productions in the midwest, and continues to give annual summer concerts in Vancouver. He is known for his eclectic choice of concert repertoire, as much as for his charisma on stage.
Campbell writes pretty frecquent on gis blog and he shares his thoughts in everything: music, copyright in internet, his job and search for new commitments.

It is Bobby Jackson's personal blog. He is a married barytone from Portland (Oregon) with a very good taste of humor. He calls himself: singer, crooner and... diaper changer! His posts are witty, funny and with a lot of self-sarcasm. He shares his thoughts on his blog about everything.

The personal blog of the American mezzo soprano Vivica Genaux where she adds her career thoughts and experiences: I'm writing my very first entry in my very first blog! My friends and I thought it might be fun to have some behind-the-scenes looks at what my life as an opera singer is like.(7 Sept. 2006)
