Video: Fabbrizini's Traviata at La Scala after 37 years...

Enjoy "Sempre Libera" sung by Tiziana Fabbrizini at Teatro Alla Scala.
She was the first Traviata after Callas' magnificient Violetta Valery (Luchino Visconti's production, 1955), which was one of her greatest triumphs. After that production no primadonna managed to sing La Traviata at La Scala because the audience and the infamous 'Scala claque' disapproved every one of them.

However, in 1992 that young and unknown soprano managed to win the difficult audience and she became the first acceptable Traviata. Unfortunately she was a Callas-copy and after that production she didn't succeed to make an international career.

Αναρωτιέμαι πόσες φορές άκουσε την Traviata της Callas(o ήχος μου θυμίζειτην παράσταση της Λισσαβόνας το 1958)
Ίσως να μοιάζει αλλά she is no Callas!

She's absolutely fine. Some phrases are actually more evenly produced than Callas.
