Video: Cruda Sorte (Marilyn Horne)

The absolute mezzo-soprano Rossiniana. Marilyn Horne sings amazingly the aria of Isabella (L'Italiana in Algeri).

She was born in Pennsylvania (1934), she studied singing under William Vennard at the University of Southern California and participated in Lotte Lehmann's vocal masterclasses. She made her proffesional debut in 1954 when she dubbed the singing voice of Dorothy Dandridge in the film Carmen Jones. Soon she became an opera star.
