Video: Vladimir Galouzine, The Russian 'Tatar'!

The Russian 'Tatar', Vladimir Galouzine, is one of the greatest dramatic tenors of our times whose vocal and acting talents to a great extent determined the success of 1991 and 1996 Mariinsky Theatre productions.

He was born in Rubtsovsk (Russia) and graduated from the Novosibirsk Conservatoire in 1984. He became soloist with the Novosibirsk Theatre of Operetta from 1980 – 1988 and then with the Novosibirsk Theatre of Opera and Ballet from 1988 – 1989 and subsequently with the St Petersburg Chamber Opera Company.

Galuzin is regularly guest performer at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, the Opera Bastille, as well as at theatres in Vienna, Florence, Milan, Salzburg, Madrid, Amsterdam, Dresden and New York but he is still Mariinsky Theatre soloist since 1990 and wishes his packed schedule could allow him to spend more time at home.

In 2003 he sung in Greece (Megaron of Music) Calaf one of his greatest roles during a production of Turandot.

Enjoy him in the first aria of Calaf: "Non piangere Liu":
